Hi Wayne,

I'm another newbie and have found lots of advice in this forum. Digging is a long term commitment that I am only just grasping! You can dig, dig, dig, dig then dig some more and still find couch grass!

The advice from Bobby T about your fellow plot holders is worth listening to! Our society and the neighbouring plot holders have been so encouraging and generous.  :D  We have had lots of  advice, produce,  seeds, cuttings and digging help to get us going.

Good luck but watch that back :!:

Hi Wayne and Duggie.

Others, more experienced than me, have given you great advice. I took my plot on in June and it's so true to make friends with the other plot holders. I have been given great advice by them (ususally when I ask for it as they don't want to be know it all's) and they have given me loads of produce until I had stuff growing as well as seeds for next year and fruit canes.

I also agree about the digging, not too much at a time, but get all the roots out. Preparation is everything.
Lynne.

So much to do, but so little time.

don't take on to big a job at once - I re did my whole garden this year and its a daugnting job and you get sick of it - start with plan on paper (some thing you can dod for the garden when you can't get there or its dark) and start in one small area get that ready plant something even if is green manure for the soil - seeing it grow will keep you inspired then move on and continue like this - before you know it you will be finished and but no discouraged or sick of the whole thing -  just a thought from self experiance - Enjoy, eat and relax with you allotment
