We got a new allotment this year upgrading from a communal smallish one last year of which we did really well. This year a number of factors have got in the way (long holiday then the allotment flooding, illness + long chest infection, constant rain stopping play....) so a number of things have been left consgned to the apartment until things improved. We've litereally just put up a polytunnel (10 x 15 ft), although it needs finishing off and the soil inside preparing of which i'm hoping to get done asap tomorrow. Oh, and a shed is coming next week to will have that to erect.
We're really hoping to get the best out of the polytunnel this year. I have a load of tomatoes and some peppers / chilli plants to go in immediately as they are taking over the apartment. Will start some salad aswell as i'm missing the home grown stuff (so much tastier). Have spring onions in a seed tray ready to be planted and also a good number of leeks still in seed trays ready to be moved... somewhere.
Any other suggestions for something to stick in the polytunnel now to get the best out summer (something quick growing prefereably....). Also looking forward to autumn and winter veg what should I be sowing now?
Peas, carrots and potatoes bit the dust due to the flooding. Will re-sow carrots this weekend aswell as a couple of types of pea... What else could I sow outside now for a crop?
There just seems so much to do!!!!
