My potato leaves have been eaten, wow at such a rate, I am just left with bare stalks!! I am going to buy/make some spray for them, but do you think the potato's will continue to thrive underground whilst the leaves are being attacked in such a way!

I did get a kilo of peas yesterday though!

The tubers underground are fed by the leaves, so they won't thrive, but shouldn't die either!

What is eating the leaves? (not many spud pests I can think of which would require treatment with spraying.)

Thanks for reply! Not sure what they are, kind of like a longer browner ladybird? There are thousands (well a little over estimated!) how else do I get rid off them, if not spraying?

Any tips for a newbie much appreciated!

If you are in France these almost certainly Colorado beetle lavae. These are an awfull pest to have. We would like to see photos.

If you are in the UK Colorado beetles are a notifiable pest and should be reported to Defra immediately.

A couple of my potatoes were being stripped - I blamed the chickens but it turned out to be a serious cornucopia of slugs. An couple of evenings with a pointy stick and jar of salty water and the problem was sorted.

Yes I am in SW France, when I have tried to upload photos before it says image too large and I dont know how to make it smaller??

I will try again, and google some images, and maybe some remedies to get rid of them!

If you open your photo in your normal photo programme it probably has an image option and within that a choice that says resize or something similar. Alternatively alter your camera setting and take another photo.
