potatoes problem yet again!!
« on: June 08, 2012, 06:51 »
Hello all,
I was at the allottment last night and i noticed that on my earlies, which are swift i think or dante (lol). That the is some brown spots on the leaves and some yellowing of some leaves..

They where planted on good friday and are in raised beds and it hasnot affected all the crop, i did take a few pictures on my phone and i will load a couple on here, once i can work out how to downsize the pictures lol!!

With the amount of rain my gut feeling is that i think it could be magnesium deffiency and i was going to use some epsom salts this saturday!!

So do i just spray the leaves or water the whole plant and also how often!!

thanks for the help beforehand#

cheers dave :D

Just water it in, splashing over the leaves as you go

If they are Swift, these crop way earlier than other 1st earlies (in ideal conditions, harvestable in about 7 weeks but obviously longer if weather has been cooler)  So it's also possible the plants may just be naturally dying back - why not have a furtle to see if you have any potatoes  ;)

If they are Swift, then I wouldn't bother doing anything with them they should be about ready to lift  - at any rate they'll be ready before anything you do will help ;)
