Growing in window boxes
« on: May 30, 2012, 14:55 »
D'you think I could sow salad bits and bobs in a decent (1m x 30cm x 30cm) sized window box.

I'm thinking of radishes, scallions, golf ball carrots (Ok not the real name, but they produce a round root not a long one ;) ), cut-and-come-again lettuce?

yes, yes  and yes!

We plant almost all our veg into planters and window boxes.  We have strawberries, salad stuff, radish, little beetroot in small salad and window box sized bags which have pretty wicker 'crates' around them and large 1m boxes for peas, beans etc and even bigger ones for spuds.  Looks fab and easy to manage, but you will have to water a lot.

Just going to check on the veg basket/boxes with courgettes in....
