Is it more difficult to candle blue eggs?
I only ask as I just use a ordinary torch with a doctored loo roll taped on to candle eggs and it's always been fine. This time I chose to hatch only blue eggs and when I candled today I couldn't see and detail, just a dark shape in each.

Our araucana eggshells were definitely thicker than the 'ordinary' ones!

I have a mix of Araucana and cream legbar eggs. Do you know if a high intensity torch/ candler would make a difference? I can't really afford one now but could try and get one for future use.

Hi my first lot of fertile eggs were Cream Legbars. I had the same loo roll style set up (lol!!) and I found it pretty clear at 7 days tbh. My candling was accurate in comparison to the results hth.

My hubby got a mini led torch torch from the local garage last night, it was only �2. I can see through the shells far more clearly now. Lovely seeing them wiggle inside the shell.

cool. Yes, I used my sons LED torch light and a connical shaped piece of cardboard homemade from a cereal packet lol!
