well...i got the the eggs. 22 to be exact. there silkies and are 7 dayis in the incubator today.one of them was cracked, pretty badly, on the end so i took it out. i cracked it open, snd there was a developing embryo inside.
it was moving too. its "arms" were flailing about. would it have developed? im pretty sure i did the correct thing cause of the crack and bacteria possibilty, but couldnt help but wondering if it owuld havve hatched.
-If life gives you lemons find someone who got vodka and have a party
-If it doesn't fit;force it. If it breaks; you needed a new one anyway
-Borrow money from pessimist; they don't expect it back

there is a way of protecting them if you do find that again and thats to cover the crack with nail varnish,, yes it does work honestly .my ex's ( spit ) gramps bred rosellas and he did a job on one with nail varnsih and he said it fixed them up no worries .im not saying you should paint every cracked egg with pink or dayglow varnish this was a clear one ... just do tha crack ( fine ones ) and then let it dry before putting it back to the bird ....    it will be ok with the warmth of your hand .may werk with incabatoos as well  :)
still alive /............

Of course Munty is right but also if it happens again and the chick only has 24 hours or so to hatch it can still be saved. I did it with "Miracle" a picture of whom you can see in the album. Her shell had been pecked away all bar enough to cover her tummy. so I made sure that that bit stayed put and just kept her warm (in my hands or under a lamp) until her tummy had absorbed the rest of the yolk. She is now 6 months old  :D  :D  :D
Of all the things I've lost, I miss my mind the most!!

Please edit the title to this. It sounds really awful and makes you look bad when actually you didn't really do anything wrong :?You certainly arent a murderer :!:

yeah well did find out that we could have fixed it after, but it would have 14 more days to go, so it might or might not have survived

are you sure there was movement in the embreo because at only 7 days there should have only been veins and a blob in the egg not anything in the way of a developed chick capable of movement  if there was then i would check they havent been started by somebody else.

it was most defenitly moving, and embryos will move at 7 days, llok it up. i have read it on many sights, and now have witnessed it myself. of course it wasnt huge movement, but definitly there.
