Who's nipping tops off my Onions??

This has happened to some of mine and I suspect the muntjac deer we have that come through the site.  They don't normally touch onions but with it being a slow start to the season, their menu of greens is limited 

I have some bamboo canes and netting that I make a makeshift fence round stuff until it grows a bit.  Doesn't need to be super secure, they just don't seem to like pushing their noses into net to get to veg 

Same here, the only walking wildlife we have at our lottie are mice (just discovered a dead one this morning) foxes and domestic cats.

i was hoping to extract some seeds from a indian red onion bulb that i was growing but the slug/snails got their teeth into it and ate all the tops and left their slimy trail as a little thank you. i have yet to see if there is a surviving middle shoot so it can still grow.  to protect the others i had to use slug pellets around the edge
