If the poison contained an anticoagulant It will cause haemorrhage in 36-72 hours. Vitamin K injections can help in this situation.
All vets have an 'on call' service for emergencies and they also have access to a poisons help line so I would call your vet with the details of the type of rat bait you have used as early treatment might be life saving.
How worrying for you. All the best.

Very upsetting for you. :(

I know it is a bit late for the chicken that ate the bait but perhaps you should invest in a rat bait box.

The rats and mice can get in but nothing else can. About £20 from B and Q or £10ish if you are near a farm store.

We have had one now for a few weeks and it is the best thing we have bought. Works really well. We are now on top of the rodent problem.

I'm so glad. Lets hope she'll be ok! and that it's not too expensive a lesson in making sure that poisons only reach the intended target.

OH good, it is not nice when something like this happens :)

Better go and buy a bait box so it doesn't happen again ;)
