Hello,
I only collected my chickens on Sunday and so very new to chicken keeping.  i have noticed that one of my birds is looking abit swollen on the right side of her chest.  Not noticed this before just now.  They have been in their small run all day whilst I have been at work and have come home at tea time and let them out which when I noticed.
when i pick her up and feel it, it doesnt feel very hard but Im worried

You can stop worrying. It will be her crop, she's obviously stuffed herself. Mine always have a big lump on one side at the front just before they go to bed after they have filled up on pellets.

phew! thankyou, that has put my mind at rest.  I never dreamed I would worry about 3 chickens so much.  They are just such great girls, couldnt bear anything to be wrong with them

Our six are always stuffing themselves and the look pretty comical with their lop-sided bulge....

Thankyou everyone for your replies. Yes it appears that Mary-Ann is in fact a pig! At the end of each day her crop is huge but gone again by morning. Ive stopped worrying now.
