watering method for plants
« on: May 20, 2012, 22:33 »
What with the h/pipe ban and all, I have been swatting up, anyone know these self made drippers? you get a plastic bottle of pop, cut the bottom off make a hole in the cap stake it, then put water in the bottle and it drip feeds the plant

So my question is, will this rot the roots, being damp all the time?

The idea is to make a small enough hole so that it drips slowly. Roots love steady moisture but they can't deal with constant soggy conditions, which isn't what your method will do. You'll just give steady even watering at a low level.
