I'm in the process of building a new enclosure for my goose. I'm slabbing around the base but the height of the run is only about 4ft so I don't want to put a roof on it. I have read that foxes won't climb floppy wire fencing and wondered if I put about 18ins of fairly loose wire netting around the top would this deter a fox?

Wendy's run had 8 foot high chicken wire loose as well another few feet buried underground. Allan likewise had something similar. Fox was able to either dig in or over the outer fencing perimter of his. Wendy never had hassle. Fox den was behind her allotment. I use pea/bean netting loose across part of my run.

Another 2 foot of fencing leaning outwards might be good.  Weld mesh is best.

I think I would be forever worrying, guess I'll go with a mesh roof and I'll just have to duck down.

If you use a floppy meh for the roof could you not prop it up, a bit like a tent, to give you more height? Just a thought
