Seedling Questions On Another Wet Tuesday
« on: May 15, 2012, 16:16 »
Couple of questions.

What's an optimum stage to plant out potted red -onion seedlings? At the moment mine are about 2 inches high and maybe 1/16 inch thick.

Secondly, have two squash seedlings in pots, not into mature leaf fully, was wondering what planting-out measures will help to give them a good start?

Any ideas, experience most welcome :)

Pumpkins : Dig a square hole spade depth and put in manure, plant. I push in a pot and water into that. lant out late may/ early june. Will need to harden off first, out daytime in nighttime.

Your onion seedlings sound as if they have only just straightened out - they are too small for transplanting now but you'll have to do it anyway in a few weeks whatever size they are then.

Squash can be planted out when you are as sure as you can be there will be no more frosts, and preferably warmer temperatures all round. They will need to be hardened off first of course to get them used to the great ( ::)) outdoors.

PS - it's TUESDAY, I think!
Sow your seeds, plant your plants. What's the difference? A couple of weeks or more when answering possible queries!

One of the best things about being an orang-utan is the fact that you don't lose your good looks as you get older
