They are consistently inconsistent!
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

Just been down to earth up the spuds and put fleece over them too.

Met Office = no colder than 5C.
Metcheck = -1C.

I suspect the Met Office will be more accurate but you just don't dare take the risk.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

Thanks for the heads up, I too am getting -1 on metcheck & 5 on met office so err on side of caution, went outside (no allotment unfortunately) and covered my spuds and fleeced my seedlings in the unheated greenhouse, they've only been in there since the weekend so I hope they survive!

Metcheck always shows lower temperatures, than actually happen here, but I think it's better to be safe than sorry.

Parafin heater in the glasshouse and 2 candles lit in the polycarb as it looks to be a cold'un  :ohmy:

now I've learned to subtract 2 degrees from whatever the met office says for the nearest town here at night  (which is fair enough given we're a few miles away and at a different altitude etc) .... So, am anticipating 0-ish based on what they say, but we will get what we get.  It's a clear sky for sure - still light /dusk.

Hi mrs ball, I too put my toms out over the weekend, they had outgrown their pots and I don't have a greenhouse! Typical there's a threat of frost quite so soon after.... One shall see how they fair, if not too well I hope to have time to replant! Good luck with yours!

Ditto here, but very slight. Made a brief visit to the plot & spuds seem OK. There's to many too cover.

Nowhere near an air frost last night (4C) and quite breezy all night long so little chance of a ground frost either, at least in fairly high up suburban Sheffield.

A less "certain" frost warning is also being made for tonight, which of course is exactly the sort of situation that catches people out!  :nowink:
