Short answer, yes.  Long answer, snap it up if the price is reasonable.  Can't see any reason you would not be able to make low fat versions in it. :)

Yes you can make low fat versions using yoghurt, low fat creme fraiche or creamy sorbets using egg whites.

What sort of ice cream maker is it. Is it one of the ones that you have to freeze the bowl or one with a built in freezer?

I started with one of the freeze the bowl ones and took it back to J. Lewis as it was a pain in the 'arris to use.

I find the ones with the built in freezers much easier to use.

But they are substantially more expensive to buy and we are not all in a position to do that.

You never know you might be really lucky and find it is one of the expensive ones. That would be a real find for you. ;)

I would say, "Go for it - if you want to put an end to drought in the South East"!!!  :tongue2:

This is based on the principle that if you take an umbrella with you it won't rain, but if you forget it, it will.  If you want it cold and wet, buy an ice-cream -maker.... ;)

However, if you get a good chocolate recipe, I'll happily test it for you :D

Sounds as if is the one with the freezer in as I believe the freeze the bowl types are are cheaper than £50. Could be wrong on that one mind.

GO grab it fast. :D

Thats an excellent buy for £3.

I've got 2 that have to have the bowl frozen and i get on fine with them. One i bought new and got on so well with it that i got another from fleebay. Keep the bowl and paddle in the freezer if you can, then its always ready to go.  If the ingredients are very cold mine makes ice cream in20 -25 mins.

Try making sorbet in it,  its delicious and low fat and calorie.
