scaly leg mite
« on: May 11, 2012, 16:40 »
Can somebody clarify treatment please? I frontlined my 3 hens yesterday as a precaution but on closer inspection I think 1 bantam has it badly. It's difficult as she has partly feathered legs! Today she was in the cat cage while the others laid as she's broody yet again  (bless ::)
When I let her out one foot had been bleeding. Is it ok to smother with pet jelly as well as using frontline! Am a bit confused after reading various posts ???
Thanks in anticipation, I know I can rely on you guys. :)

If she has feathered legs I wouldn't use vasaline as it will clog up the feathers. You can buy a spray for chooks, or as you already buy frontline for domestic pets you could buy the medicine to treat headlice. Personally I prefer to stick with chook stuff.
