the manchester egg
« on: May 10, 2012, 19:00 »
has anyone heard of this , i watch a programme called andy bates street food and saw this which was invented by a pub landlord

  i did 2
pickled eggs (i used ordinary hard boiled as i dont like pickled )
  4 sausages of choice
   3,4 sices black pudding
   bread crumbs
  egg for dipping

remove skin from sausage
remove any covering from black pudding
mix sausage and black pud together
place egg in the centre and make as scotch egg .
dip into beaten egg then bread crumbs x 2
deep fry for 8 mins
nice hot or cold

we had some tonight and they were yummy
Woman cannot live by bread alone , she must have cake , biscuits cheese and the occasional glass of wine .🍷

I saw the same programme but I don't fancy the Manchester egg because I don't like pickled eggs or black pudding.  I really like a lot of his other recipes though and I have a fantasy of doing something like him and selling food on a stall. :)
Cheese makes everything better.

I agree, the absolute madness of "elf and safety" has made the experience somewhat miserable. :(

Elf and safety I can manage.

Have a system and a really helpful food inspector who pushed me to doing it when I was in doubt. It isn't that difficult.

It is managing the British weather that can be a pain, being ripped of with pitch prices from so called fayre organisers, and working out the footfall because of football matches, public holidays that are the downs :(

The ups are the regular customers and the great feedback :) :)

Yeah!
I saw this and will definately be giving it a try as soon as I get my kitchen back!
Just a thought, if you don't use pickled eggs, doesn't it just become a regular scotch egg?
I would also love to see the recipe for a vegetarian Scotch egg, it sounds interesting.
I had to laugh, I saw a vegetarian Scotch egg recipe on tv recently, it failed on line one!
"take an organic free range egg"
LOL, eggs are not vegetarian, sort of spoiled it for me..

i dont think so because its got the black pudding in it and a scotch egg hasent but there are loads of other alternatives like white pudding , savaloy sausage .
i allways thought that the egg was the food for the chick and the chick was the spot on the egg so will that not make the egg a vegatarian option ?but i suppose its down to personal thing , i just thought they were nice and it takes alot for me to eat eggs dont eat poached or fried eggs only solid ones boiled scrambled and set omlette.
