one more for a bonus point ?

For the second time in 4 months Ive ended up with Potatoe Blight.Planted up 4 tubs on the patio, thinking I might be lucky enough to have a few spuds for Christmas if I could keep the frost at bay.Never bother with any maincrop these days because of previous Blight problems. Was wrong in thinking it was a bit late in the year for BLXXDY Blight.
I,m glad I was born here in Cornwall, where pasties are out of this world, where the rich saffron cake that the Cornish girls make keeps the hairs on your chest tightly curled.

Very late for blight.  Any chance that it was frost?

But Penlee is in Devon
Self-sufficient in rasberries and bindweed. Slug pellets can be handy.

Cornwall according to sig.  That's why I asked " Any chance that it was frost?"

Or do they never get frost so near the Equator?

No frosts here but we do have blight starting on the potatoes, have also lost my tomato plants which were grown to replace the earlier ones which suffered blight.

Touchy!

So ... any chance that it was frost?  :)  The symptoms are not dissimilar to blight.

In plain English, as I (you forgive me will you) do not speak any Cornish, it  means I was finding the comment being so far from the Equator very funny.

On the serious note, I'm not an expert on this one, but I have a couple of personal experiences that makes me think blight survives well into the autumn months to say the least.

I do not think blight works by timing, it's a spore spread by air, it's the right conditions, cold is not right for it, but then if it's not a cold autumn?
