Potatoes in alley!!!

Really silly question, no I mean really silly, I decided to grow my potatoes in bags, problem is I have also decided to sell my house, I have to clear my patio, I understand that potatoes need earhting up and kept in the dark, but do they know if they are on my patio or in the alley way, i have seven bags with potatoes in and am considering re-homing them to the alley at the side of my house, does it make a difference

How many times do you earth up? I dont get that bit and at what point do I let them grow above the ground, we have awful weather here and I only put my chitted babies out in grow bags last weekend, 

So If I have a grow bag, I should earth them up till i get to the top then keep them well watered when they reach the top thanks x

Having just taken our house off the market after three years, when we reduced the price four times till we were below the price we paid (despite new heating, kitchen and gutters/soffits etc) I would say don't panic and leave them till you get a viewing. We averaged three a year! (sold twice, but fell through both times for no particular reason)
