Can get hold of these large and small,thinking of joining some together filling with top soil and compost and placeing them in greenhouse for toms,cuces,peppers and carrots is it worth a go.

They make great seed trays.  Lack of depth might be an issue for some of the crops you mention - depends on how large is large.

for toms n cucs you need 5 stone boxes 2 ina box ... 2 stone will be brill for lettuces 6 ina box... radish in 1 stone. swede turnips can also go in 5 stone ones .i wouldnt bother with trying carrots in them they hit the bottom n bend up :roll: .dopers it sound like i know my way around the fish docks here or what lol. try 10 stone kit boxs for carrots they.. are  ,,,, DEEP ENOUGH :wink:  :lol:

small bxs are 24'' long 24'' wide and 14'' deep the large ones are 3ft x 3ft and 2ft deep they also have lids and are about 2''thick i will try and get a photo.

Both a good size then - especially if these are internal dimensions. The large one will take well over 1 tonne of soil to fill it.

Remember to punch drainage holes.

havent got the large ones just the small holes done stones in and sieved soil and compost in. joined them together and put them in greenhouse the lenght is six foot.

They are excellent for growing toms out doors too.  Stops the roots getting too hot during the day and holds the heat over night.  I've had excellent results with them in the past  :D

use a hot poker to make the holes ,,, saves splitting them  :wink:  grimsby docks had its uses in my childhood lolo
