toms and cukes?

i have had both my toms and cukes in for a bout 1 week! being somewhat impatient cant help thinking they wont germinate they have been in a cold g/h now been bought into conservatory! whats the longest you would wait for germination of any seed before trying a new batch?????? ::)

Well, a cold greenhouse will guarantee they won't sprout. They're tropical plants and can't take the cold, let alone germinate.

If you put them in a very warm place and the seeds are fairly new, then you could see them up in as little as a few days.

not really warm enough for them to germinate quickly in an uh greenhouse. Keep them in the conservatory until they come up in about another 1-2 weeks. Put them in the greenhouse when the nightime temp in there stays at or above 10 degrees.

Sorta the wrong way around germinate them in the conservatory then move them into the greenhouse when the times right.

No harm in bringing them in, but if you haven't seen anything in 7-10 days time, perhaps do a back-up sowing too.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

I agree with Yorkie. They can be tempermental so best to do the backup. Better lots than none.

 :ohmy: :ohmy: :D :D :lol: :lol: ::) whoohoo 2 of my cukes since bringing into conservatory have made an appearance after just 2 days! my chilli plants still a no show or my tomatoes but who caqres i love cucumber with salt!............. :D :D :D

I can't advise they often die for me as well  :(

This year I'm going to try them in several different places and at different temperatures in the hope a couple will survive  ::)
