Chinese cabbage idea & sweetcorn
« on: April 24, 2012, 08:24 »
Just wondering if it would be a good idea to grow chinese cabbage like Pak Choi or Yuki in between my sweetcorn?

Have read that it bolts quickly if it's hot so thought maybe the shade might help prevent it.

Also could cauli grow in there coz I think I read that doesn't like too much sun either?

Anything else that can go in the shade or grow before the corn is high up?  Little gems maybe?

Cheers

Thinking out loud here : If you are growing corn closely there will be some shade but no room for planting. If you are growing them further apart there will be very little shade :(

How would you get between the corn to harvest?

Cauli's are big plants

Lettuce around the outside edges would work  :)

Personally I would not grow anything in the sweetcorn.

I've found in the past that even weed growth is inhibited.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

One kid is handful. Two kids.... Example for chaos theory. Hats off to my mum who managed three...

Same here mate I later found out that you need to tie the leaves up with string to give them that bullet type shape you get in the shops!!
