well this morning they are not looking good so getting rid of them! grrr.... new seeds on the go.

very warm here s compared to most places so everything can go in s much earlier!

yes one type only and at the same time. Far better that way than have a load of gorgeous sweetcorn cobs forming from several varieties only to find they dont do anything or, if they do, taste disgusting if they have had the issues that can arise with differing types.

And they do freeze wonderfully if you get many at once: while not quite as good as freshly picked, they are infinitely more superior many months later when taken straight out of the freezer, plunged into boiling water to cook and then drenched with butter and some salt than any you can buy from the shops!

A little off subject .. But John Harrison does write some very good books I use :

i totally agree! havent got those but might look into getting them they sound good.

yes they are good books and worth having. And good companions to my favourite books on growing by Hessayon and a rather fine book by Alan Buckingham  "allotment month by month" - probably THE book I would not be without.
