This years new thing is...........

Most of us grow the standards but what new veg thing are you trying this year that you have not grown before?

After some success with a carrot sized japanese radish called "pink dragon" two years ago, this time it's Mooli radish and Kohl Rabi as my lad (9) wants me to grow that alien looking thing on the Kohl Rabi packet.

Oca. They are going mad in pots in the conservatory.
I`m left handed, what`s your excuse?

Oca. They are going mad in pots in the conservatory.

Mine too!  Slightly worried about keeping them indoors until the risk of frost has passed!
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

probably nothing new for lots of folks here, but we're trying onions from seed this year, individually and in clumps.  So far so good in that they are all still live, albeit tiny.  About to put them out this week   :D

Lots

Aubergine, broccoli raab, edible leaf carrot, chard, kale, pepper, pumpkin, celtuce, spinach and turnip.

Also have some 'weird' things like strawberry sticks, salad burnet and some unpronounceable winter salad leaves.

First time for me this year will include rasps, gooseberries, currants, spinach, broad beans, squash, and pumpkins. Also, from seed for the first time will be leeks and cauliflowers.

This year I will mainly be trying to grow vegetables in my newly designed garden. Only grown in tubs up to now.

For the first time I'm having a stab at sprouts, broccoli, leeks and French beans.

Trying again with spring onions as failed big style with them last year.

Jerusalem artichokes. I can't find them in local shops for love nor money so I'll grow me own.  :)
A few heritage toms such as Bl@@dy Butcher and Pink Brandywine, and I've found some rootstock tomato seeds so I'm having a go at my own grafted toms. They are extra from my standard toms so if they fail I won't really loose much. Just an experiment.  It's bound to go wrong!  :nowink:
