do i just plant them like spuds? my dad has some in a half a big blue barrel but there is not much soil in there and i am sure there is nothing in there have not had a look really but brought some the other day from dobbies so was going to clean it out and start again!

Bang 'em in just like spuds.   BEWARE, they can be very invasive.  They also grow to 10 - 12 feet so don't grow them where they may hide your other veggies from the sun's rays.     Cheers,     Tony.
