Both in the garden and around the chicken yard. I do have various pen knives and the like at my disposal but I'm constanly being told off by my OH for taking household knives outside

Whats your 'weapon'of choice ?

I find that the Opinel knives can get very stiff to open, especially on a cold day when you can't feel your finger ends.

4" lock knife, brass and rose wood handle, stainless blade holds an edge well. Nicely constructed and well balanced.

Got it from the "earth repair catalogue" about 5 yrs ago but they no longer seem to list it  :(

My knife ...
... is a Burgon & Ball knife my dad bought for me.  I never leave it in the shed though, and give it the once over with some oil every now and then.

My only problem is that I shove the knife, secateurs and snips in my pocket, so that when I'm working I poke holes in my jeans, and sometimes I sit down and get up again a bit sharpish ...

I have tried wearing one of those tool belt things but I always revert to shoving them in my jeans pocket.

not forgetting the nail scissors and nail file that are vital for maintaining guitarist's fingernails...

... and the saw for cutting walking sticks...

... and the tiny screwdriver for tightening specs...

... and the two bigger screwdrivers...

... and the tin opener...

... and the tweezers, great for getting splinters out of children...

Never leave home without it.

Oh you meant a gardening/allotment knife....

I bought a 5-in-1 Wilkinsons contraption with me spend & save vouchers.  Not sure what the forked end things gonna do unless I meet a horse with a stone in its foot.

anyhow........does anyone else go into a hot sweat when they realise they've popped to the local shop with said implement in pocket, it's daft things like this that lead to "offensive wepaon" arrests.
