Different approach to toms?
« on: April 10, 2012, 19:49 »
This year, (after the initial failures in an unheated greeenhose), I planted all my toms straight into seperate 3"pots. As soon as they got to about an inch high, I pressed down around the  tom seedling and filled back up to the seed leaves with more compost as an alternative to redoing them and planting deeper. They seem to be doing very well. Has anyone else done this, or have I perfomed another bright manoeuvre?

If they look well, you have done it right.

Could be a winner but I would have thought compost needs adding underneath so the roots at the bottom can expand and not 'twirl' round each other.

Time will tell so let us know how you get on

I do that for my brassicas in catlitter tray..  :) never potted it.
One kid is handful. Two kids.... Example for chaos theory. Hats off to my mum who managed three...
