What is this? and rubarb?

havent got a clue for the first question - but the rhubarb is ready to pick (get a firm grip at the bottom of the stem and pull - if you've never harvested it before)

the later pick does look like a gooseberry - particularly the close up shot

Re the rhubarb - when was it put in as there doesnt appear too many stalks on it?

watch out for the dreaded sawfly on the gooseberry then (although if your not eating it you may not be too bothered!) as it can soon strip it

Id pick some of the rhubarb but wouldnt take too much off it yet with the amount of growth. Rhubarb crumble for Bank holiday? 

my dad did say there were gooseberries in the garden ewwww none of us like them lol so friend will be happy rubarb has been in at least 3years as my dad has been in spain for 2 and it was there when he was here before i remember havinf rubarb crumble lol

Try the gooseberries with elderflower cordial, make a fool,lovely thick custard & whipped double cream. Delicious.

Ummmmm maybe I will learn to like them lol custard and cream can make anything tase good x
