Donkey Manure
« on: April 03, 2012, 19:31 »
I have the chance of some on freecycle, it is about 90 days old. My questions are has any one else used it, is it any good and could I apply it straight away to the beds or best to wait till autumn?
All the way from my allotment in beautiful Derbyshire. I'm in year 3 of my allotment and wish I'd caught the bug years ago, things growing from strength to strength

hi from what ive read from posts on this site donkey manure has to be rotted down like horse manure before being put on your veg beds as it burns the plants like fresh horse manure.

however ive just read on one of the threads (person asking whether he could use fresh donkey manure as a diluted liquid feed - and someone replied with a link, and here it is:
http://www.gardenerscorner.org/subject059376.htm

If it has a cake with only one candle in it, it's well rotted!  :)

(a year should do it).    Cheers,     Tony.
I may be growing OLD, but I refuse to grow UP !
