Can't say I'm too fond of picking slugs up, so I don't, and I've stopped picking spiders up by hand after one ungrateful specimen bit me as I rescued it from the bath!

Love frogs, but don't like the way they jump out unexpectedly from the undergrowth.

I was moving some bricks, and a big black spider about 3 1/2 inches across, crawled from the

bottom of the brick.

Dropped it straight away, even though you know they can't do you any harm it was still a

shock

My ex was afraid of spiders around the house but I found that if I gave them a name, he could 'relate' to them and didn't try to squish them!  ::)
I don't mind them as long as I know roughly where they are as I have a fear of squishing them, and other insects (excluding mozzies  :D), due to the childhood trauma (u are allowed to laugh at this one) of my nan squishing my pet beetle, which escaped from my dollshouse....eew!
I was bitten by a spider once JayG and it b****y hurt! It was a woodlouse spider, an ugly wee beastie, so I can empathise with you there!  :D

It was a long, long time ago Argyllie (40+ years). I think I must have selective amnesia with regard to its name, though the vision still haunts me... :( ::) :D

I am no longer petrified of earth worms -( its only taken about 20 yrs!!!), but dont want to touch them (Marigolds r my friend), freaked out by any maggot type grubs , slugs just make me feel ill they are just horrible , slightly freaked out by the things that you cant see easily either ( kinda wished i didnt know they exsisted!! eelworm for 1)

Spiders and other creepy crawlies dont worry me so much except earwigs!!!

But I do love gardening and esp growing my own  :D but it does explain some of my past posts  , so I do get over  :D

Oh and I love snakes and reptiles I thought until I saw a snake in the garden  - my feet didnt touch the ground - and I chicken out of holding a slow worm of which we have plenty of on the plot (They eat slugs I think yay)

I found the most beautiful slow-worm this morning!  He/she was about 9" long, with gorgeous orange colouring, and he/she was so worried and stayed sedentary until I put him/her into some long grass nearby, and escape was made!

We found several more last year, and I had a sleepless night once, because one got stabbed by a fork during some digging.

I would never, ever want to hurt these delightful creatures.

I didn't know that Cat!

I was so upset when a big one got hurt; it would have never survived, but we found several more later during the grass removal!

They're beautiful creatures,, and I somehow wish they'd stay, but we need the ground...

They get taken to a derelict plot, where they'll have a great time foraging, or whatever slow worms do on their nights off...;0)

i rember when i was about 8 comeing down the garden with a snake i had found.
it was just curling round my hands having a look round, never hissed or owt. upon showing my mum she did her ablsolute nut! this snake in my hands was an adder!

for a venomous snake it was very very good temperd  :D
