Does feed affect egg size?

Our neighbour has hens the same as ours (I thought they were Rhode Island Reds, but Grannie said they were probably something else, I can´t remember what though!) We get nice golden yolked  large eggs, Juan is getting eggs that are more like bantam eggs, with pale yolks.  We feed a mix that has corn etc in, especially for layers, it is 13€ a 40kg sack, Juan feeds his cheap stuff.  Would the feed effect the size of the eggs? I know it can make the yolks a different/more golden  colour.  Just a thought

age affects the size of the eggs, the feed though can affect the colour of the yolks and the quality of the shells.
