Great I've got some mash left which I got for Emily when I first go her (she ate it dry).  I'll give them some of that recipe and see what they think of it  :D

seriosly tho it seems those who fed mash n changed didnt realise or know that it needs to be soaked . ,if you soak any seed  and let it germinate for a couple three days ,about 3 inch tall then feeed it to the chucks they absolutly love it

oh dear -I've been doign this wrong!  I started my 6 hens off on layers pellets as that is what they were use to but they didn't seemto eat them.  Aftera couple of weeks I changed to mash but I've never mixed it with water (they have access to 2 water containers day and night).  I didn't know it was suppose to be mixed with water!!!

so I mix the mash with water but how long do I have to leave it before feeding it to the hens.  Is it like sugar beet for horses - you leave it over night??

I'm confused now ...(and yes i am blonde before you ask!!  lol)

To the best of my knowledge battery hens are always fed dry layers mash. Strikes me that mixing with water would mean a lot of exta washing of feeders to prevent mould. I have heard of people mixing mash with water before feeding but usually because they want to put medicine in with it. The few people  that i know that use mash just ensure there is plenty of water available.
All these moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain.
