Bully Chicken.... What to do?
« on: March 25, 2012, 19:33 »
I got my new chooks on Friday and all has been ok... Except for the ginger one being picked on!
Three hens (one in perticular) is feather pecking her and the others...

The bully keeps going out her way to have a peck at the others. Only really started today as she has made herself mother hen as such...

What's the best path to take now? Should I take her out for a day or leave her in there and let them sort it out between them? No blood has been drawn (yet)...

Plaese help!

Thank you Toni, I shall leave them to it...

Over the last 3 days it's been interesting to watch them sort the order out. The top hen on Saturday is now in number 2...

I was just a little concerned as the two top hens were both (not at the same time) having a go at the hen at the bottom of the chain (and my favourite)... It's obvious she's the weakling, does that make her a target more than the others?

As Tony said you just have to leave them to it. The bullying will settle down.

Tony I said the bullying would settle down. I know it doesn't stop, With my lot a stare or a bok is now usually enough for the top hens to get their way. If they are given something they really like for eating then everyone of them fight for it and to hell with the pecking order
