Hello,

I have a 3 week old chick, (3 weeks yesterday)

How soon can i put him outside with the others?

I know after 3 weeks you can turn the heat lamp off, so im gonna start turning it off in the day and on in the night,

How soon do i put her/him onto grower pellets?

the chick needs to be about 6 weeks old before you start changing over it's food (and do this gradually). As for going outside as it will not have a mum to protect it from the others it really needs to be big enough to defend itself. It will be like going out and buying just one hen so you will have to be very careful  . My best advice is to buy it a friend of similar size and age and then introduce the two of them when they are at least 14 weeks old.

ok.. would it be ok to add it to some that a hen has hatched ? (my silkies r broody n shes sitting happily on some eggs - im expecting them to hatch in about a week) so is it possible when theyre due to hatch, to put this one out?

not realy advisable craig as they will be different age and the older one may bully younger ones, best thing is as joyfull sugested and try and get it another chick about same age or size

The broody hen will treat the older chick as an intruder and will try to kill it
