Well Grannie Annie I still think poundland is the way to go so think I feel a challenge coming on  :D

Thanks, but yours looks pretty crafty, it will definitely make the most of the water, typical woman - making a simple & elegant solution!

I wish I’d looked at your piccy properly before I did my complicated drawing. You probably made it quicker than I described mine

After buying specialist seeds from a sweet pea nursery last year and getting mediocre results, I popped into Poundland and picked up a pack of 60 seeds for a quid.      I shall have to go more often, depending on this years results.       Cheers,     Tony.
I may be growing OLD, but I refuse to grow UP !

in south america and some places in mexico they have terracotta
pots that hold water they are sunk into the ground and they water through
them helps save water little evaporation.
in my beds i have sunk plastic water pipes that have a few holes in them
going dow the sides they are slightly above ground will fill them up with compost and manure and water through them to feed and water at the same time
so maybe you need to water and can lose the bottle ?
Will let you know how my veg go and whether it works here hopefull will do
looks a bit odd .my beds are all raised so dry out fairly quickly
sorry about long post  ;)

6 for £2?  You jammy thing, how did you manage that?

Shame you are so far away fairy, Brian has loads of this threaded steel rod.  He just drilled holes through the 10 pots for me, and bolted the rod top and bottom!

I think my alpine strawberries are dead, although I think I saw a little bit of new green this morning.  Looked in been and queued this morning and they wanted £1 each for strawberry plant!

Will look elsewhere!   ;)

Grannie Annie luckily one of my lotty neighbours had already given me some of those metal rod thingys!!  :) So long as he isnt to "sensitive" about me choosng to try an alternative to the terracotta strawberry planter I will get Mr ulsterfairy unto it  :D

I will double check the receipt but im sure it was 3 for £1, I remember being surprised cos I was expecteding 2 for £1, I would have thought it would be the same price in all the stores so I could be wrong?! Either way its still a brill price!! To be honest Im going to see if anymore in I fancy picking up some more to do a herb planter as well.

Mine were 3 for £2 but when you buy 3 garden items you can choose a free pack of seeds :)

oooooo now they look like a real bargain, am I right in thinking these will be first year plants? So any flowers should really be nipped off so they crop heavier next year?

In theory the flowers should be nipped off, but you have to be very strong willed not to leave a few on, so you can at least have a taste this year  ;)
