Pre-germination Q

I chit my french and runner beans - but only long enough to see which ones are viable.
I've never done it with peas, but don't see why you shouldn't.........

As Mum says it's a good way of checking whether the seeds are viable but it's not essential for any sort of seeds.

Can save some wasted effort if starting seeds in trays or pots if you don't get near to 100% germination rates - I have pre-chitted some slightly suspect pea seeds and after about 2 days they had nearly all sprouted so sowed them straight into the ground at that point (I'm small-scale with everything but no way was I going to pot up 50+ pea seeds!)

I skip the guttering!
