Newbie from Rotherham - advice on first chickens

Hi there!
just got a new allotment and we want some chickens - which are the best breed to get? and how high must the fence be to contain them?

Depends what type of chuck you want, wether you want them for eggs or meat or looks  if you google chicken breeds they will show you pictures of all the breeds and what they are best for 

Hello, I agree with nerdle get foxproofed...decide how many hens you want...check out the breeds...As Tony H says do you want meat birds or eggs or a mixture..Make sure your coop is adequate and foxproof. Do a bit of research it really helps.Check out local vets and feed suppliers. Ask loads of questions on the forum,and have a look in the old posts section.
It does'nt matter which hens you buy if the fox gets them, so good luck and welcome to the forum...
