I've got some Hispis in my cold frame
Self-sufficient in rasberries and bindweed. Slug pellets can be handy.

I sowed some in January, (Clapton Caulis & Greyhound Cabbage), they are now outside hardening off.

I have more heritage caulis in the unheated greenhouse, soon to be potted on and am about to sow Kalibos Cabbage, Red Jewel Cabbage & Kilaxay Cabbage.  The others will be hot on their heels.

Who's these usual suspects?  :tongue2:
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

Please don't put your French beans out - they hate cold and one whiff of frost they're a gonna.

I'm not even sowing mine for at least three weeks yet - to be out out late May.

Brussels are up and running in seedtray in the zippy thing outside but unzipped. Just sown Summer psb (ditto) but Greyhound, Early psb and kales won't be sown for a couple of weeks yet.
Still eating Black Tuscan kale and psb so definitely growing them again!!!

It's not just frost, but low temperatures can cause plants to stall and not get going again. Frost will simply kill them.

You may be about 100 miles south of me, but that would not mean 2 months difference in planting time.

Mine are being sown in modules this weekend --- brussell sprouts, summer cabbage, Clapton caulis (came highy recommended after my dismal failure last year) and PSB

They'll stay in the open fronted gazebo, where it is sheltered but not warm, until they are ready to be planted out at the plot

I know we're going slightly off topic here, but whilst it's aimed at school kids, this is a useful fact sheet for French beans:

http://apps.rhs.org.uk/schoolgardening/uploads/documents/french_beans-wl_476.pdf

Note that they will not even be sowing them until after the Easter break.
