Digging hoe or scotch hoe
« on: March 21, 2012, 10:58 »
anyone have any recommendations for a 1/2 descent one please, also should I get one with the forks attached to the top of it, some of them look so flimsy, i dont want to spend ££ on some light weight that isn't man enough to do the job,

Thanks

This isn't a scotch hoe, but it sounds very good. I've just found one locally and will pick it up when I can.

If you need something stronger, have you considered an asda?

do like I do and trawl the boot fairs, once you have found the head if you want a new handle thats relatively easy.

More like a carpenters tool with a hammer on the end, seems like the same kinda thing, but the handles are too short, but looking at that I found this

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=150765468606

So it was helpful, and this it spot on for what I want.... not bending down and doing my back it, thanks guys

Try and get a decent quality tool though, which ever one you buy.

That's why I was asking, its forged, and a hardwood handle, there's probably better out there, but i dont have the experience or expertise to know what are good and bad out there

I agree. I bought a second hand Chillington hoe from someone on Ebay and it is far bigger and heavier than the brand new version I also bought. (not Chillington). The real Chillington makes short work of digging.  :D

My azada came from here,  http://www.get-digging.co.uk/tools.htm

OK it's not cheap, but without doubt it is the best and most used tool at my lottie.
