was getting the ground ready for the spuds

HI folks,
Wel at last we have started getting the act together and have been clearing a bit of ground of weeds/leaves ready for the spuds to go in.  Can´t do much work each day as the temp. is back to high 30´s. So by 10.am-10.30am we have had enough.  Went and bought irregation stuff (neighbour showed hubby what to do) so hopefully in the next few days we will get sorted.  Looking forward to planting veggies.  Had plenty of greengages off tree and made jam!

still not got the spuds or anything else in John, had to sort out the watering for the trees, they were beginning to look very sad so the neighbour came and sorted us out and told us what to do!!  Bought new bits and pieces so the water comes out easier and goes where it is supposed to and the earth isn´t blocking the flow.  Weeded the plot and now need to getthe ground prepared for the spuds.  Can only work until about 10am as it is too hot by then to do more.  It isn´t light until about 7.40 am so there isn´t much time to really get going in the garden.  It should cool down soon.  (Fingers crossed)

FIL used to be a miner, shame JIm´s Mum hasn´t still got his hat!!
Was out yesterday sorting the watering again, we are getting there.  Still too hot to plant.  Hopefully by the end of the month I will be planting stuff.  Back to the UK at the end of the month, so will hunt out the garden centres, great one in Clyde Valley, near Lanark, have a wonderful cafe there too!! Bet it has the Christmas stuff out and no seeds though. Garden centres here are few and far between and I need a ladies spade not a great heavy one.
