I got an Egg!

First Egg this morning!

I must be doing something right - and on Mothers Day too!

Definitely Gloria (goldline) as her comb is scarlet - the others still look way off.

So, boiled? fried? in a cake?

Lol

Fried on toast it was - mmmmmmmmmm.

BUT! I got another one today and I swear its the same chicken but the egg looks different, bigger and more even coloured.

Do all eggs from one chicken look the same?

Todays looks more like the sort of egg I get in morrisons (but obviously much finer!) and the layer is a Goldline so this makes sense but yesterday was smaller, pale and blotchy...

Any ideas?

The eggs can change appearance and size as they get into the swing of laying (and this can also happen when the hen approaches the end of her egg laying life).

Hens eggs can vary a lot in their appearance, according to breed. I have 2 rhode rock types, 1 lays a pale brown egg and the other a lovely deep brown egg but I think this hen has a little bit of Maran in her somewhere which would account for that.

Thanks Helen - definitely my Goldline, I got another today!
What a good girl she is!
I knew a first egg would be smaller but it was completely different so now I know!

Hopefully the others will start laying one at a time, then I stand a chance of knowing who laid what!

Cheers
