used the pellets last year, but have decided to go down the nematode path this year, the problem with the pellets is that they only good for those slugs that surface and eat them.
The nematodes are in the ground and actively search for the slugs that don't surface.
Yes it is more expensive as you need to re-apply every six or so weeks, but if it keeps the so and so's from eating my crops then that's the way for me.

I will be trying this as I do like grapefruits.
Up side down grapefruit halfs after you have eaten the flesh. The slugs happily gather underneath and can be bagged up and binned at your leisure. The garden gets to look a bit quirky but colorful!

Has anyone tried Nemaslug? Looks expensive but if it works as well as it claims it might be cost beneficial.

Last night my grapefruit halves caught 5 slugs from my raised bed; popped them into a plastic bag, top tied and into the bin  :D :D :D

my neighbour used to simply put a light sprinkle of cheap table salt around the key beds but put the salt on strips of material so as not to have it in direct contact with soil. And no slug attacks.

I tried similar with my some of my often-attacked crops the last 2 years and it worked a treat. Not sure about on a larger scale though

OK so the sun came out and stayed out. My nemaslug instructions says 'avoid applications in bright sunlight, apply during evenings or dull condition'.

Well it was over caste when I applied them and the forecast was for it to say that way  >:(

Have I blown it?

I really wouldn't worry too much - the overall temperatures are still quite low so they won't get baked.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

Phew, another worry put to bed  :)  I have never used them before and they are not exactly a cheap option!

Last year I got so frustrated with my Pak Choi germinating and then disappearing over night that I thought I would try something new. The packet arrived just as the temperatures plummeted to below freezing and so have been living in the fridge.

They were getting near to there used by date (May 1) so I still have something to worry about  :nowink:
