That's what we pay for well rotted cow manure, horses don't chew as well as cows so the weeds could find their way to your plot!

My neighbour keeps horses, hence my comment!

We get horse manure delivered here, its £1 for a barrowload and goe to the site funds.  However I find it too strong and much prefer to pay for a delivery of cow muck.  Just preference I think

i save all my old compost bags and then go and fill them up with well rotted.remember stables have to pay someone to take it away or at least have to spend money on diesel to spread it.you are doing them a favour by removing it dont pay!if its been delivered to you of course you expect to pay delivery, fuel isnt cheap.

That's for delivery I bet the manure itself is free  Can you not collect/bag some up for yourself?

Location may make a difference but i can honestly say i would NEVER pay for animal muck! Any stables will generate more muck than they know what to do with. A farmer will charge them to come get it, take it to the next field and spread it. IMO horse muck that has some shavings/straw in it is better than without. When its in the garden it adds alot more texture than just manure on its own.

Cow manure's my choice, without question.

As said before, horses are greedy, they'll wolf their food down without chewing properly so you may recieve something like grass seeds etc in thier dung.

Cows however, chew - swallow - back up, chewed again (the cud), via 4 stomachs (it is 4 innit?  ).

And out comes 'liquid gold' from the other end!

That's for delivery I bet the manure itself is free  Can you not collect/bag some up for yourself?
