elephant grass

Hi folks,
A quick question I have got a huge elephant grass plant, the one with the big thick stalks and the fly swatter at the top. I am wondering if anybody has a tip for removal as the strimmer did somersaults when I tried that way, and I believe that the root ball is impossible, so any tips would be appreciated. and its right in the middle of my new plot, so its got to go.

Do you mean Pampas grass or Miscanthus, you can set fire to Pampas so cant see why you cant do the same to Miscathus

I suppose you could burn it off then glyphosate any new shoots that come through :

aye your right its pampas just looked on web for it.
burnin not an option garden in middle of flats and resteraunt.

Those blade like leaves are as sharp as knife blades so wear long gloves when you're doing anything to it.
If flames are out what about a chain saw

You could cut it to what my OH calls 'A height suitable for future maintenance '.... ie. level with the ground

then when it shoots go in with the weed killer :happy:

Just a thought, could you get a digger-JCB- to it
