So, if your friend has brilliant crops from his method that you can see for your own eyes, why don't you follow him?

I had crops earlier than she did and they were as good as hers.

I planted one row of peas today, my new bessie mate, a blackbird, kept hopping around me, he's been with me all week while I've been digging over the beds, anyway I decided to put some netting down, he's already had half my worms so he's not having my peas, however he's so handsome I could easily forgive him

Last year my saved sugarsnap peas either didn't come up or got nobbled before I'd even seen them, so I did chit them (for a couple of days, just until I saw the very first signs of shooting.)

Last year after having lost a load of mine to Mr Mouse the previous year, I planted my peas then watered the ground with water containing a few drops of strong chilli sauce in it. The smell seemed to disguise the smell of the germinating peas and I did not seem to lose any. A friend just dusts his pea bed with curry powder after planting - less drastic than soaking them in paraffin.

Yes, but only because I am trying seeds saved from 2002 and 2003 to see if they are still alive.   Not going to waste seed compost on them.

(got 3 out of 20 crimson flowered broad beans from 1998 to chit last week even though the other 17 went very smelly)

Sometimes my plants grow despite, not because of, what I do to them.

Sweetcorn - to chit, soak or plant, that is the question.
