I'm the same as you Yorkiegal,it's the first time I've grown anything and now I've got seedlings coming through (It's like magic!).
I've never had the slightest interest before and got an allotment by accident
It's got me now hook, line and sinker. I can't wait to start planting out .It's GREAT :D

I can't believe what I've been missing all these years.
It's better to burn out than to fade away !!     ;)

Then you'll all have to move to Canada because they grow like mad over here  ;) Only time cuke seeds didn't grow for me was when I discovered the birds had pinched them. Reseeding took care of that, along with some temporary mesh.

....It's GREAT :D...I can't believe what I've been missing all these years.

And the amazing thing is - I don't think this buzz ever wears off...I've been growing stuff on a significant scale for about 10 years now and every spring it's the same...seeing those leaves bursting through the compost

 :)

(Neil has it right in Young Ones - We PLANT the seed...Nature GROWS the seed...we EAT the seed...)

Only 40+ years for me - and it gets worse.

Just off to count my peas again.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

I have had good crops of everything but not necessarly in the same year  :D  The only thing I cannot grow is peas.  I have just put a load into the greenhouse for planting out later and if I do not get a good crop from them I will be bugging DD for advice.

Wow.  I'd got the general impression you were the pea maestro DD.,  but those pictures in that thread really do reveal all! What a great support system though, will definitely be trying something similar!

You'll probably be OK time wise, the forecast is not too bad, but I've other things to do in my gardening schedule at the moment.

Transplanting wise - I'll probably be growing anywhere between 200' - 300' of peas plus oddments of small quantities of heritage varieties, so you can see that in the main transplanting is not an option for me when you're looking at nearly 4,000 plants!

Thanks DD. when I look at it logically it cannot spare the room for 200+ pots, the greenhouse is full of Broad Beans, onions & flower seedlings, in the house I have 75 tomato plants + my peppers and I still need to start off my leeks.

I will keep the 30 or so pots I have already sewn for a, hopefully, early mouthful and try sewing direct again.  Will try netting down well as I have a lot of mice on the plot.

I think you need to re-asses your sowing quantities! I know you give a lot away - as I do, but I make sure that I can grow what I want first!
