anyone tried that cheap aldi grow bag,think its about 1.39 .it looks a bargain but i wonder what the texture of the compost is like.

I've never bought any, but for £1.39p sometimes its worth getting a bag just to try it out

my b and q compost has been good so far. - this year there is mixed reviews when it comes to this years compost from b and q, i think its down to which batch you get.

Wilkies are doing their 15l compost reduced from £1.68 down to 86p. It is suprisingly good quality, I had to go back for more!

We`ve got a Stermat here. They are doing Growmore with wetting agent 40l for £1.99. There is a few twigs in it but I have used a lot so far (doing raised beds and tubs) and the overall quality seems good.

Grow bags are generally quite cheap unless you get a brand name (Tomorite etc etc). They will do a job but i always think that with reference to growing mediums, you get what you pay for.

Expensive compost is not necessarily best compost as trials done by Which? showed a couple of years ago.  My experience is that you won't know for sure until you try it unless several people have pointed out just how bad a particular brand is.  For £1.39p, it's not going to break the bank to buy a bag and if the quality is poor, then it's been worth it to find out and the compost can simply be dug into beds that need vegetable matter.  On the other hand, it might have been a worthwhile exercise.
