egg shell colouring
« on: March 07, 2012, 09:39 »
this is going to be a silly question to all you experts out there but ive asked friends with chickens and they cant tell me and the answer isnt in any books.
Q.  if an Araraucana cockrel is running with a brown egg laying variety of chicken and she lays a fertile egg, What colour will the egg be?  told you it was silly.

Brown. The chick though might  produce a blue/green one when old enough.

as grinling says the egg colour will still be the same, the cockerel has no effect on her egg colour as she has none of his genes, the young chick however (assuming it is a female) could lay blue/green eggs as it will have inherited some of his genes  :D
Staffies are softer than you think.
