BANTUM BULLYING
« on: October 20, 2007, 21:26 »
Today I went to an auction and purchased a pair of bearded blue silkies and a pair of gold sebrights, I have not kept bantams for years as we currently keep pheasants, partridge, quail and finches and I thought it would be nice to see some around.

Arrived home about 3.30 pm put them all in a nice covered run scattered some mixed seed on ground for them and thought I would sit back and enjoy watching them, however to my surprise the small femal sebright attached the larger female bantam and then proceeded to have a go at the male this continued until the silkies sought refuge in the hut.

I kept looking back on them and they were all in run but the female sebright kept bullying the silkies, then the male silkie decided he would have a go at the female silkie, fearing for their lives I decided to shut them all in the hut for the night and hope tomorrow would bring better results.

Does anyone have any ideas ?

Chickens always need to sort out the pecking order and can be very evil to each other.

Separate the bully using some chicken wire but keep it in sight of the others and see how it goes.

-If life gives you lemons find someone who got vodka and have a party
-If it doesn't fit;force it. If it breaks; you needed a new one anyway
-Borrow money from pessimist; they don't expect it back
