repoting brocolli
« on: March 03, 2012, 19:10 »
Hi, I would like to repot my brocolli as my propogators dont have holes underneath. I have definitely sown them a bit too warm. They look a bit long and appear a bit like water cress. Can I plant them up to the leaf like tomatoes to encourage root growth or are they goners already :(

Depends how long they are.

You've found out the hard way that brassicas need very little warmth, they certainly not need a propagator.

Seed is cheap and it's often easier to start again.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

If they are really drawn and spindly, it is better to start again and grow some stocky healthy seedlings thatn battle on with poor plants imho  :)

To be honest they are just in a seed tray, when a saw shoots the lids were off. At the time of sowing I didnt understand they needed a cooler enviroment. I would leave them only I want to water form bottom up, I wont make that mistake of buying propogators with no holes ::)

In that despite what was posted earlier, I don't think they'll be OK and re-sowing is your best option.
